Lucky Us

Lucky Us by Amy Bloom
240 Pages

Half-sisters Iris and Eva bond and survive during the 1940's in Bloom's latest work.    Throw in a reprobate father, a couple of lesbians, a blues singer, a gay hispanic makeup artist and a jewish orphan and you begin to get the cast of characters in the book.

However, I should have known that if the critics were gushing I wouldn't care for the book.  The characters are unsympathetic and fall flat to me.  I could write more on this but I don't have anything nice to say about it.
