Hit

Hit by Lorie Ann Grover, 256 pages

Sarah has a crush on a student teacher, Mr. Haddings.  She’s convinced that he has reciprocal feelings and has brought a poem to school to give to him.  On the way to school, Sarah is hit by a car, driven by Mr. Haddings. Sarah needs brain surgery and may have permanent damage, if she survives.  Mr. Haddings is racked by guilt, both because he hit her and because he is afraid that he led her on.  The plot was interesting, which kept me reading until the end, but I didn’t really like most of the characters in this book and the dialogue was truly awful.  I wouldn’t recommend this book and don’t plan to read anything else by this author, based on this experience.  This was an ARC and SLPL does not own it.
