Right Where We Belong

Right Where We Belong by Brenda Novak         Audio Book: 9 hours, 28 minutes     Mass Market Paperback:  400 pages

Not your normal romance novel.   This book reminds me of someone tapping their finger on a wine glass like that clink, clink, clink sound.    There is a pulse that runs through this story keeping you on edge all the way to the end because you just know something bad is going to happen and you know who will be involved, you just don’t know when and how it will come.    There is so much animosity and lying going on between all of the characters you just know someone is either going to get assaulted, brutalized or killed and given the cast in this story you keep hoping it won’t be the innocent ones that get it.   This is almost an action thriller the way the author drives this story like a good Stephen King novel omgosh!   What will happen next and to who?   There are so many conflicts going on it really keeps you glued to this book because you have to know how each issue will be resolved.  Man!   This is a go for the gusto plotline.   It starts out with Savanna Gray’s husband getting arrested for 3 rapes they can tie him to and possibly 1 murder that is how the story opens and it just keeps running to the finish line from there.   There are kids, loose women, pregnancies with questionable paternities, conflicts between rivals, a sexy long-haired singer/guitarist, a mental alcoholic extortionist, and always the fear of something coming out of the dark to destroy everybody.    Amid all of this the sexy long-haired rocker guy who had a crappy childhood and was abandoned in a rest area at a park as a little boy is the voice of reason trying to protect and help everyone.    Good story and side stories with juicy background.   You will not realize it but there is so much going on you will find yourself holding your breath to the point of breathing hard once you let yourself breath again – it is that good and constant stuff happening with everybody.    Makes you say, “Whew!” once you come to the end.   Good one.   Bravo Brenda Novak.    This would make a great film of the “Gone Girl,” genre.
