Impossible

Impossible by Danielle Steel           Audio Book:  9 hours, 30 minutes   Paperback Book: 480 pages

I really liked this story.    The author kept me hanging all the way through on the roguishness of one of the main characters.    Sometimes you will think he is so sweet or is it all a rouse to get the lead characters money.     Is he a Tom Arnold holding onto Roseanne’s coattails riding up the ladder to celebrity by being introduced to the right peope?   I got so mad at this guy so many times.    I never truly trusted him though he came highly recommended by the lead character, Sasha’s son.    He just plays so on Sasha then humiliates her just when things seem to be going well.   She is a far better person to put up with his ridiculous behavior.   Plus she supports him for the longest then he treats her like crap.   Sorry dude, she tolerated your bull a lot longer than I would have.   But then, she was lonely and so many things he had privy to know just fed into their amour.    He knew she was lonely after her husband of 25 years dies, he is a self-proclaimed wacky starving artist which he plays on to excuse whatever outrageous and embarrassing thing he wants to do, he doesn’t mind living off of her, but, she better never tell him what to do or he will go ballistic.   As Pascal said, “La Coeur a raisons c’est raison ne connait pas,” the heart has reasons that reason doesn’t understand.       Sasha’s paramour will illicit lots of differing emotions from the reader.    You get caught up in what is going on, then there are the children both young and adult on both sides of the relationship to take into account.    So many ins and outs and side issues to consider.   Liam, nine years her junior, and hot in a Lucius Malfoy kind of way,  is a talented artist, but his immediate family won’t have anything to do with him because of his ludicrous antics,  his wife of 20 years has finally had enough I will let the reader draw their own conclusions after reading this – I get the whole gorgeous badboy thing but sometimes people can do such bad things or treat you or someone you care about so badly that you just want them gone and if a guy finds an easy mark – I have mixed feelings about the guy.   I really liked the character Sasha but Liam was grating at times though totally likeable at others and Sasha was vulnerable.    Good book, good character development true to life romantic situations in many ways though the veil of the champagne lifestyle made it all work out.    I especially enjoyed the research done on the locations, if the writer didn’t spend time at each locale, she certainly did great research.   A good story,  the writing evoked strong emotional responses and that means she invests the reader totally.   No wonder she is making a gazillion dollars writing romances.   And if you like the writing of Danielle Steele,  I highly recommend another title by her, “Jewels.”
