The Tiger and the Acrobat

The Tiger and the Acrobat  by Susanna Tamaro   176 pages

Contrary to the old adage not to judge a book by its cover, I was drawn to this slim novel solely because of the beautiful drawing of a tiger on the cover.
The book follows the life of Little Tiger, a Siberian Tiger who struggles to understand the meaning of being a “true tiger;” her musings about the world take her on an unexpected and unconventional journey through life. Written as an allegory, the story is punctuated throughout with pearls of wisdom about innocence, trust, freedom, and following one’s dreams. “Sad are those lives who never meet a wall to climb.”
