Kate and Marilyn have been best friends since preschool but
now they are starting sixth grade and everything is changing. Marilyn is becoming interested in things like
painting her toenails and cheerleading while Kate is more interested in
basketball. By the time Marilyn makes
the cheerleading squad, the really aren’t even friends anymore. Marilyn has become friends with the other
girls on the squad and Kate is reaching out to other kids in their grade but
they still kind of miss each other. This
is a quiet, slice-of-life, coming of age, type story. A lot of older elementary girls or pre-teens
would probably enjoy it.
