February Totals and New Challenges

Considering that February was a short month, we did a lot of reading! Results in a moment, but first, let's talk about some fun new challenges.

Starting with the March results, we're offering some special reading challenges that will lead to many wondrous prizes (and, if we're lucky, the trophy for the statewide challenge!). Prizes will be awarded to winners in three categories:
  • Most books/pages read
  • Most participation points (more on that below)
  • A random drawing of active bloggers (meaning that if you blog about one measly book in a month, you could win a prize!)
OK, about those participation points... Points will be awarded for the following activities:
  • One point per book read and blogged about each month
  • Two points per book by Neil Gaiman (a wild card challenge handed down by the Missouri Book Challenge)
  • Two points per book that's at least 700 pages long (again, a Missouri Book Challenge wild card)
  • Five extra points will be awarded to anyone who blogs about a fiction book, a non-fiction book, a young adult book, and a graphic novel in a single month
But enough about challenges! To the results! Krista R topped the board for the second month in a row, but Ed W and Jason S were hot on her heels. Full results are below, and on the Monthly Reporting page.

  1. Already most of the way through Ocean at the End of the Lane, so easy points for me.

  2. Oh so very close to reclaiming the top! Maybe March will be different. On a slight side note, next year I was going to attempt to read 100,000 pages in a year (8333 a month) it's nice to see that it is possible.
