The Improbable Theory of Ana & Zak by Brian Katcher,
328 pages
Ana is a brilliant overachiever who is terrified that if
she steps out of line her parents may disown her. She is college bound and seems to have
everything going for her but her life is rules by what her parents want her to
do. Zak is also smart but is what Ana
thinks of as a slacker. When Zak is
enlisted to help at an Academic Bowl competition for a weekend, reluctantly, he
and Ana are unwittingly thrown together when Ana’s younger brother heads to a
comic convention in the city. This book
is funny, touching and realistic, despite the almost madcap adventure
aspect. I think that a lot of teens
would like it.
