China Rich Girlfriend by Kevin Kwan (Book 2 in the Crazy Rich Asian Series) Audio Book: 15 hours, 4 mins Paperback Book: 496 pages
Another excellent book by Kevin Kwan. The story picks up with Rachel and Nick a few years after the end of the first book. Rachel and Nick are now married, living in New York City and surviving on their teacher salaries. In this story, Nick and Rachel go back to visit China again spending a lot of time with Rachel’s relatives this time. Nick’s mother is shame-faced when she finds out that Nick is back in the country but refuses to have anything to do with his family after they treated Rachel so disdainfully last time and refused to accept her into the family (his mother and grandmother) doing their best to break them up. Nick’s mother is determined to see her son regardless of his going against family wishes and marrying Rachel. Lots of events transpire and there is much ado in Nick’s cousin Astrid’s home and many betrayals and unrequited love. Events transpire to work in Rachel’s favor trying to locate her father and a whole lot of ups and downs, smiles and tears occur. Great story, I enjoyed it just as much as the first one and I believe anyone reading this book will feel the same way. Your emotions will be tugged along the way and the amazing gadgets and architecture described is mind boggling. GOOD, GOOD story, yes, I definetly recommend this book and author Kevin Kwan to anyone looking for a good read. Who knew there were so many billionaires in China? Well done, once again, Kevin Kwan. Now I have to track down the third book in this series. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
