Wicked Charms by Janet Evanovich (Book 3 in the Lizee & Diesel series) 308 pages
THis is supposed to be the last book in this series but it leaves some major things unaddressed so I am wondering if at some point Janet Evanovich will revisit this story line and give if not closure, at least some more information about some things. There are signs and symbols and writing that only certain pure hearts can recognize, except for Carl, that is. He gets more than the normal monkey, but has an attitude on things where he just gives everyone the finger and goes on There is more to the pirate in the cage at the pirate museum than first meets the eye. Glo, who considers herself a wizard not a witch, thank you, picks up a magic 8 ball at a yard sale for $2 and finds it to be surprisingly accurate. Then there is broom who at one point goes floating by and Glo tells Lizzie, "Look, Broom is going for help1" Funny how things have a way of working out. Maybe that is what happens when you read the Harry Potter series through 4 times. Books, paintings, bells and what was that Van Gogh connection? Hatchett is starting to look good to Glo but then she has her own pirate, Josh doing pirate speak, Anarchy runs rampant, no wait that was also happening in the last book. A devoted Rutherford remains one of my favorite characters and i am so glad he jumps series and shows up wonderfully. I could listen to him talk for days, he is one of the best characters ever. He reminds me of Tim GUnn on Project Runway. And the dude knows when and how to get out, get out now and get out gracefully without offending anyone even when it looks like he may have to kill them. And what do man's best friend and Grampa's shark tank have in common? Maps to nudie seniors islands, betraying boyfriends or is it the pull of the avarice stone making everyone greedy? Thank goodness if you don't add the powedered newt snot the spell is only temporaray. Hey wait a minute, Lizzie's cookies have preservatives and dye in them, what the heck she got a boat load of cash - fie on you Amerethia stone! I love Janet Evanovich's writing! Middle schoolers on up will enjoy it, too, I think.
