Heidi

Heidi by Johanna Spyri, 383 pages (pub. 1880)

Although I have read this book multiple times, I never get tired of it.  Most people know the story of the little girl who, after living with her grandfather in the mountains, is taken to Frankfurt as a companion for the invalid, Clara, and stays so long that she becomes homesick and ill herself and is forced to return to her grandfather to rest and heal.  Although it’s a really old-fashioned story, there are a lot of kids out there that like this type of book and would enjoy reading it.
