Shouldn’t You Be In School

Shouldn’t You Be In School by Lemony Snicket, 325 pages

This is the third book in the All The Wrong Questions series.  While it’s probably more fun to read them in order, I think kids could jump in anywhere if they wanted without much confusion.  In this book, Lemony is still trying to figure out Hangfire’s plans and to stop him.  There are a series of fires, believed to be arson, which he and his chaperone, S. Theodora Markson, have been hired to solve.  Although the librarian is blamed for them, Lemony believes that Hangfire is responsible and continues to search for the truth.  For some reason, the entity that hired them in the first place is the Department of Education, even though the first fires had nothing to do with the school in town.  The school does, however, become involved.  Lemony, with the help of his friends, devises a plan to get to the bottom of the plot and, hopefully, save the town.  A fun addition to the series, kids who like humorous mysteries and fans of Snicket’s other books will like this series.
