Me

Me by Elton John 374 pages

Did the man have an editor? Do differences between American and British English extend to grammar and punctuation? These are not rhetorical questions - the writing of this autobiography was so sloppy that it distracted from the content throughout. However, I believe this is an authentic, entertaining life story heavily written by the man himself. His wry observations and self deprecating comments made me literally laugh out loud  and shed a few tears on more than a few occasions. Don’t get me wrong, I am an Elton John fan, but ultimately, this is another celebrity story: miserable suburban childhood, early musical failures, sudden meteoric success, sex, drugs and dodgy financial advisers, and eventual redemption through marriage, parenthood and activism.
