Night of Miracles

Shirley J.                Adult Fiction                           Elderly People, Love & Loss, Mason, Missouri

Night of Miracles by Elizabeth Berg    (Book 2 of the Mason series)    304 pages

The second book in the Mason (MO) trilogy explores Lucille Howard's story.  Now that Arthur has passed away and Maddy is in college, Lucille is left alone with her baking classes.   They become so popular she has to hire a helper to keep up.   The story covers a few years and now Maddy's daughter is a young child able to help Lucille bake when they visit.    New neighbors move in to Mason, MO, a woman looking for a new life in a small town and a family who come to depend on Lucille for her help babysitting their son, when the mother is diagnosed with cancer.    An angel appears and chats with Lucille, Maddy meets the man of her dreams - one of her college professors, life goes on in Mason, Missouri.   Good story.  I have enjoyed this trilogy.   I recommend this series to high schoolers on up but likely adults will enjoy it most since many of the characters are older.
