The Legend of the Easter Robin

Shirley J.                     Juvenile Fiction                           Robins, Easter, Jesus

The Legend of the Easter Robin by Dandi Daley Mackall and Richard Cowdrey   30 pages

Beautifully illustrated story about robins coming at Easter and how legend has it that when Jesus was carrying the cross to Calvary, a robin flew over and seeing the crown of thorns on his head and one particular thorn piercing His forehead, the robin flew down and tried to pull the thorn out.  When he did the thorn pierced the robin's breast making it red with its blood.   And that is why robins are seen in Spring appearing around Easter and why to this day their chests are red.  Told charmingly perfectly matching the magnificent artwork on each page.  Delightful story for young and old. I recommend this story to everyone.
