Look For Me (Detective D.D. Warren #9) by Lisa Gardner 400 pages
In this novel, which brings back not only Detective D.D. Warren, but also Flora Dane, the home of a family of five is a crime scene where four people have been savagely murdered, and the fifth member of the family is missing. Was this girl lucky to have escaped? Or is she somehow connected to the murders? D.D. Warren is on the case, but so is Flora Dane, who is seeking a different kind of justice. A survivor turned avenger, Flora has started a support group for survivors and sees things from a different angle than the police. The question is, is Flora, herself, blinded to the possibility that this girl survived the murder of her family because she was involved?
I've enjoyed reading other stories with the character of Detective D.D. Warren, although when I read that this story would also feature Flora Dane, I was eagerly anticipating the book. I find Flora to be a fascinating character and the juxtaposition of her viewpoint with D.D. Warren's always makes for a great read.
