The Doubt Factory by Paolo Bacigalupi Audio Book: 11 hours, 44 minutes Paperback Book: 512 pages
Excellent book. Full of suspense, it keeps surprising you and I like that. Who are the bad guys and who are the good guys? Some folks know how to spin things in the media so masterfully that you won’t be sure who to trust. Full of action and at times you will want to smack the female lead – it’s like “what were you thinking?” She is young and pushing her independence but making some really poor choices at times. College girl, loves to drink and be a party girl. She gets high, not even checking what she is taking or questioning the source, she doesn’t want anyone including her parents telling her what to do. Her father and his best friend have started their own business working with major corporations throughout the world helping them to market their brand. She, Alix has her Dad wrapped completely around her little finger – her mother not so much, and her little brother, who annoys her, could be the best friend she has. An underground group begins doing off the wall covert stunts to draw attention to alleged cover-ups of the large corporations’ clandestine behind the scenes information that would stop people dying. Not really knowing exactly what her Dad does for a living, when a stranger keeps showing up whispering things in her ear she begins to question what is real and what isn’t. Reader, you won’t know who to believe until the very end. The action never stops. Good book.
