Violet Markey, whose older sister died in a car crash the
previous year and Theodore Finch, who has been known as “Freak” to most of the
school seem to have very little in common.
But a chance encounter on the school’s bell tower marks the beginning
of, at the very least, a cautious friendship.
The two of them are partners on a history assignment and end up
traveling through Indiana to see some amazing sights. Finch and Violet mostly seem good for each
other. Violet starts riding in cars
again and Finch hasn’t had one of his blackout sessions for months. However, their relationship may not be enough
to hold them together. This is a good
book dealing with grief. Anyone who has
ever lost a loved one or simply likes teen “issue” books will want to read this
story.
