Where the Dead Sit Talking by Bandon Hobson Audio Book: 6 hours, 5 mins. Hardback Book: 288 pages
A very good story about 3 foster kids, living in Oklahoma. The narrator of the story is 15 year old Sequoyah who is of Cherokee heritage. A good look into the troubled lives of children caught between the lives they want to lead, the people they want to be with and the desolation that drugs, alcohol and abuse have on families with children as the victims. One of the kids is autistic and sleep walks among his other peculiar habits. Sequoyah and 17 year old Rosemary both dream the dreams of their native heritage with the spirits of the dead delivering messages to them about what is to come. There is a sense of the shaman in both of them. There are many back stories that make all of the characters so much more intriguing. You find little surprises in strange things all of the children tend to do in dealing with their private grief and regrets. So well told, Brandon Hobson is a gifted story teller. Everyone is a little damaged throughout the book, and they interpret their lives accordingly. It is one of those books you can’t put down because you know the other shoe is about to drop but when and how will surprise you. Really well done. Kudos Brandon Hobson.
