But though evil lurks in the shadows, so does love--and the freedom to find a golden promise forever..."  This book as just as dramatic as it sounds.  I've read it a bunch of times and I still love it, even with the over-the-top dramatics.  It's just a fun, creepy, satisfying read for me. I enjoy the old-fashioned setting, the sense of ghosts, and the romance, which isn't overdone, surprisingly.  People who like gothic romance will enjoy it.
