Time's Arrow

Time’s Arrow by Martin Amis    165 pages

My book club decided to read this, mainly because it’s written backwards. It’s compelling reading…especially since if the reader is to make sense of the dialogue, the reader has to start at the end of the passage and read backwards.

I “think” the novel is narrated by a soul….or maybe a mind.  There is a clue in the first two-thirds, the black boots.

Amis does a remarkable job while telling the story backwards, yet at the same time keeping the action moving forward. However, I don’t get it. After finishing this short work (thank God), all I can say is “Huh?”  Not only do I not understand the point of the story, I don’t understand why Amis chose to write it this way.
