A Simple Wish by Charlotte Hubbard Audio Book: 8 hours, 30 mins. Paperback Book: 320 pages
Good book with a lot of really interesting twists. Papa is cranky for more than one reason – he is leading a double life and that is a no no for an Amish man. Triplets were born to an Amish couple but during a flood one of the girls washes away – omgosh! Who knew there would be an Anastasia-like plot here. And unrequited love – love, loss, then years later he wants her back but her Amish heart has moved on to the local bad boy. Then this “English” guy comes in to town asking a lot of questions about Percherons and Belgians when he is known for breeding horses that he races at Saratoga and in the Kentucky Derby. Whew! Lots of action happening in this Amish story. You never know what folks are up to under those big brimmed hats and bonnets and it all happens in Missouri this time!
Fun story, I really enjoyed it – gave me a good reminder of one of the characters from the t.v. show “Banshee.”
