Slaves of Socorro by John Flanagan, 462 pages
This is the fourth book in the Brotherband series. Se in the same world, but different country,
as the Ranger’s Apprentice series, this series follows Hal of Skandia and his
crew on their adventures. In this book
they are off to have a stint protecting the shores of Araluen, as part of the
treaty between Skandia and Araluen. Soon
after they arrive, they discover that a party led by one of their countrymen,
Tursgud, has raided an Araluen village and taken several captives as
slaves. Knowing that they will be headed
for Socorro to sell them, Hall and his crew, accompanied by the Ranger, Gilan,
set off after them, hoping to catch them in route, but planning to free the
Araluens from the slave pens, if not. As
always, Flanagan pens a great read with this book. Any teen who enjoys adventure stories will
love this series and this addition to it.
