Slaves of Socorro by John Flanagan, 462 pages
John Flanagan's Brotherband series which is a companion series to hi Ranger’s Apprentice series, This series is set in Skandia follows Hal and his
crew of misfits on their adventures. The fourth book in this sees them off to protect the shores of Araluen, as part of their
treaty with Araluen. Shortly after their arrival though Hal's old rival turned slaver Tursgard raids an Araluen village taking several villagers captive. Hal and his crew set off after them, accompanied by one of Araluen's finest Ranger. While this book could stand alone it is better if you have read the other three books in the series, as well as his other series. Flanagan's books have just the right amount of drama, action and humor. Anyone who enjoys adventure would probably enjoy either of the two series that he's written
