Glory O’Brien’s History Of The Future by A.S. King, 306
pages
Glory feels like her whole life has been defined by the fact
that her mother killed herself when Glory was four years old. She has felt isolated from everyone at
school. Her only friend is Ellie, who
lives in the commune across the road from Glory. Ellie’s mom and Glory’s mom used to be best
friends. Right before Glory’s high
school graduation Glory and Ellie drink a dead bat. The next day they start to see strange and
bizarre things, people’s pasts and futures.
It’s kind of cool but very weird.
Although there is a supernatural element to this book, the real story is
about Glory finding her place in the world.
I really liked this book and think that a lot of teens would enjoy it
too.
