Golden Age and Other Stories by Naomi Novik, Hardback book: 180 pages
All of these stories are inspired by fan art and set in the world of the Temeraire series. The series is historical fantasy set in the early 1800s. Sentient dragons live alongside human but have been mostly treated as mere beasts.
My favorite stories were "Golden Age" and "Dragons and Decorum". "Golden Age" involves a group of dragons that through ignorance become pirates until a captain of the English Royal Navy comes along to educate them. "Dragons and Decorum" mixes the world of the Temeraire series with Pride and Prejudice. Elizabeth Bennet is a captain of a dragon in the Aerial Corps which present obstacles for her relationship with Mr. Darcy. Some of the stories are drabbles - a story of a 100 words. I didn't like those.
Overall, I didn't love all the stories but it was worth reading for the ones I did like. I would recommend it to fans of the series.
