Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory Audio Book: 14 hours Paperback Book: 640 pages
What a fun story. Very well written with very believeable characters. Witty dialogue and the topic is some of my very favorite subjects to explore. The Telemachus family all have a specific skill set: The father,. Teddy is a con man with some magician skills, Maureen the Mom is a true psychic and can teleport herself out of her body to other places which the government learns about and forces her to use her gift to aid them in the Cold War. Lots of things take place including mixes with loan sharks, t.v. appearances, skeptics and more of the psychic genes being carried down the line with various gifts bestowed. I enjoyed this book very much and had to laugh at the cracks made about other psychics and charlatans in the spotlight. Its full of side stories on each of the main characters that are really good and bring empathy for those that can and don’t want to and those that want to and get themselves in predicaments. Well done Daryl Gregory.
