Two Sisters by Mary Hogan
367 Pages
Muriel Sullivant has always been the outsider in her family. The third child, she has lived under the shadow of her perfect sister Pia who was doted on by their mother. One day, Muriel's perfectly planned day off (Diners, Dives and Drive-ins marathon and popcorn) is ruined when Pia calls and insists on coming over. Pia breaks the news that she is dying of cancer and asks Muriel not to tell their mother Lidia until after she is gone. Eventually Muriel uncovers a long held family secret.
The book did drag in a couple of places but eventually became an engrossing tale of family dysfunction and mother-daughter relationships.
