3 Story: The Secret History of the Giant Man by Matt Kindt, 189 pages
In this beautifully realized graphic novel, Kindt offers three tales detailing the life of Craig Pressgang, a man who simply does not stop growing. All three are told from the point of view of the women in his life: his widowed mother, his college sweetheart wife, and his normal-sized daughter. Because of his condition, these women are removed from him, estranged by the difficulties (both physical and mental) brought on by Craig's size; that distance comes through to the reader, through their fears and motivations, and through Craig's comments and actions, all of which are presented in a sparse sketched story.
This is a heartbreaking tale, beautifully rendered. Read it.
