Girls Like Us by Gail Giles, 210 pages
Quincy and Biddy have both just graduated from high school. They were both in special ed classes. Now, they have been paired up to live together and help each other. They will be living in an apartment above the garage of the woman whose house Biddy will be cleaning while Quincy works at a grocery store. The girls weren’t really friends before but as they live together and start learning more about each other, they may be able to become friends, and also may be able to be friends with Lizzy, whose house Biddy is cleaning. Told from the perspective of each girl, this is a really good story that challenges misconceptions and illuminates the girls’ relationships with everyone, especially each other. A sweet, real story that a lot of teens could enjoy.
