The Murmurings by Carly Anne West, 370 pages
Sophie’s sister, Nell, was always the popular one, until she tried to commit suicide and was sent to an institution. Then, after she was there for a few months, she ran away with one of the orderlies and was found dead. Sophie was devastated, but also determined to find out what really happened. She knows that Nell was hearing voices and seeing things, and since before Nell’s death, she has started seeing and hearing things too. She’s afraid that she might be crazy and even more afraid that what she and Nell have experienced is real. With some help from her new friend, Evan, who is looking for his cousin, who suffered from similar symptoms, Sophie sets out on a journey to uncover the truth. The journey may lead to even worse discoveries than Sophie can imagine. A creepy supernatural mystery, teen fans of scary books should enjoy this story.
