Cibola Burn by James S.A. Corey
581 Pages
When Alien technology was found it opened up gates to thousands of new worlds for humanity to investigate. The first world, labeled New Terra becomes a battleground between early settlers who illegally squat on the world and the corporate entity who has the UN charter to explore the world. As the situation escalates, captain James Holden is asked to mediate.
However, there are further problems as the alien tech on the planet begins to wake up and local germs begin to infect the settlers. It becomes apparent that Holden and his crew will have to work extra hard to save the settlers and the explorers.
While this book is part of a series, it can be read alone and still be enjoyed. Patrons who like space science fiction will enjoy the book.
