The Just City by Jo Walton
368 pages
The goddess Athena decides to conduct an experiment to see if Plato's republic can be successfully created. She collects famous teachers and followers of Plato, bringing them back through time to raise 10,000 children to become Philosopher Kings. When she brings Sokrates a few years into the experiment, he begins question the society and the basis upon which it was formed.
Not my favorite Walton book but it is still an interesting take on the Plato idea of a Just Society.
