Beholding Bee by Kimberly Newton Fusco, 329 pages
Bee’s parents died in a car crash when she was four. Since then, she has lived with Pauline, in a
traveling show, helping her run the hot dog stand. The owner is willing to let her stay because
she has a birthmark on the side of her face and he thinks that when she gets a
little older he will be able to make money by letting people look at her
birthmark. Bee will be one of the circus
freaks. What Bee wants is a real house
that she can call home, and to live there with Pauline, but she’s not sure how
to make that happen.
