The Wolves Of Midwinter by Anne Rice,
387 pages
Reuben is still struggling some with his Wolf Gift. He has used it to help others, saving children and others from dangerous men. And he is pleased that his love, Laura, also has the Gift now, and he has found out that his former fiancĂ©e is pregnant with his child. Luckily she is willing to give him the child after it is born, and he is thrilled, as this is likely to be the only human child he will ever have. However, not all is right in his world, his brother is struggling with private demons, his father may be in mortal danger, and Marchent’s ghost keeps appearing to him and he doesn’t know what she wants. All this is happening while Christmas approaches, and so do the Morphenkinder.
