The House of Hades by Rick Riordan,
597 pages
This is the fourth book in The Heroes of Olympus series. The heroes are still trying to stop Gaea from destroying the world. The action fluctuates between two groups of heroes, Annabeth and Percy in Tartarus and the rest of the heroes on the Argo II. Both groups are trying to reach the Doors of Death, which need to be closed so that Gaea cannot use them to unleash the monsters of the underworld on the earth. Along the way, they encounter monsters, gods and goddess, and two mischievous dwarves who try to steal everything that isn’t nailed down. And if that’s not enough, the heroes also have to worry about the Roman and Greek camps of demigods going to war with each other. Luckily, they encounter a few friends and allies on the way, so, with a little luck, perhaps they will succeed in their quest.
