When I started reading this I kept thinking that this is a lot like a young adult novel which I generally avoid because too much teen angst makes me want to slap someone and tell them to get a hold of themselves.  Of course when I looked at the spine it had a YA designation so I was fooled by the reviewer. The book itself is okay but the ending will make you want to go forth and slap a lot of people into common sense.
