Hammerhead Ranch Motel by Tim Dorsey, 291 pages
Serge Storms, the psychotic spree killer introduced in Florida
Roadkill is back and still tracking the five million dollar briefcase. With his new
sidekick Lenny, a perpetual stoner Serge follows the money as passes through the hands of a con man, several incompetent thugs, and eventually the owner of the Hammerhead Ranch Motel. Here gangsters, sociopaths, and other colorful characters gather and undercover
cops run sting operations on undercover cops only to be busted by more
undercover cops. Add in to this mix a couple of cocaine dealers who are stuck with ten thousand zebra-striped beepers, two runaway grocery checkout girls, and a persistent hurricane named Rolando-berto and all havoc breaks loose.
This is the second book in Dorsey's ongoing Serge Storms. This series continues to be entertaining with plenty interesting characters, and a plot that leaves the reader trying to figure everything out. Like with the first book Dorsey only gives us glimpses of everything going on, and will occasionally introduce a new character to be killed off at the end of the chapter. Overall this one was slightly better than the first book and convinced me to go ahead and read the rest of the series.
