Jonah has been breaking bones on purpose. He stages accidents and his friend Naomi
videotapes it. His goal is to eventually
break every bone in his body. Jonah has
two brothers. Jesse, who is a year
younger, and Will, who is just a baby.
Jesse has severe allergies to almost everything, but especially many
types of food. He is extremely allergic
to milk, which makes living with a baby very difficult. Jonah’s parents aren’t aware that he is
breaking bones on purpose, but Jesse is and people at school are starting to
notice. Jonah knows that he needs to
stop before people start questioning him too closely, but he’s not sure he
can. I really liked this story and I
like Moskowitz’s writing, but I didn’t like the ending very much. It felt kind of contrived and unrealistic and
at the same time didn’t really feel finished.
Generally though, I thought the book was pretty good and teens who like
realistic stories might like this book.
