The Haven by Carol Lynch Williams, 209 pages
Shiloh and her friends at Haven Hospital & Halls are Terminals. They are not allowed to mix with the rest of the world, where the Wholes live, because they are susceptible to infections and no one wants them to get sick. However, Shiloh has always felt a little different. She remembers more than most of the other Terminals do and she and some of her friends discover the truth. Terminals are clones who exist to be body parts if their original becomes ill or injured. They also know that there are some Wholes who believe that Terminals are worth more than their parts and are working to get basic rights for Terminals. Shiloh’s friends are planning to escape the hospital. Will they be able to put their plan into action before one or more of them is harvested for more parts? A really good story for teens about the hot topic of cloning, this book is sure to make teens think. This is a quick read so a lot of teens will probably enjoy it.
