The Truth Of Me by Patricia MacLachlan, 114 pages
Robbie and his dog Ellie go to stay with his grandmother, Maddy, for the summer while his parents are touring with their string quartet. Robbie has been feeling neglected by his parents. He is sure that his mother loves her violin more than she loves him. Maddy is great, although his parents are worried because Maddy tells stories about being friends with the forest animals. But Robbie learns a lot from Maddy, maybe even about his mother, who might just love him more than he realizes. This was a really sweet story for younger elementary children.
