My Seneca Village by Marilyn Nelson, 87 pages
This is a collection of poems, telling the story of a free Black
settlement in the early to mid 1800's. While it's well done, I didn't
like it. This type of poetry reinforces to me why I'm not usually a fan
of poetry. This just isn't for me. People who like poetry will
probably like it better than I did. As it is, unless a kid tells me that
they want historical poetry, I will probably never recommend this book to
anyone.
