Hollow City by Ransom Riggs, 399 pages
This sequel picks up immediately from where Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children left off. The group of peculiars, having rescued Miss Peregrine from the wights, are off in search of a safe place, hopefully another time loop, and help for Miss Peregrine, who seems unable to switch from her bird form to human again. They do manage to escape the island to the mainland and find another time loop, but the peculiars there are without their ymbryne, Miss Wren. Miss Wren had heard that all of the ymbrynes had been captures by the wights and were being held in punishment loops in London. They also found out that the only person that could help Miss Peregrine change back was another ymbryne, so they decided to search for Miss Wren, and if they couldn’t find her, to try to rescue another ymbryne from one of the loops. I really enjoyed this sequel but I don’t know if it would make much sense to anyone who hadn’t read the first book. Fans of fantasy will probably like the series.
