The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppett by Tom Angleberger, 208 pages
One of the books in the Origami Yoda series, Dwight is back at McQuarrie Middle School with Origami Yoda. This time he and all of his friends are fighting the school’s decision to do away with elective classes and replace them with “Funtime” learning shows, designed to improve their scores on the standardized test. Last year, the 7th and 8th grades did not pass the tests and the principal and the school board have decided that this is the best plan to bring up the scores. Origami Yoda and Dwight have started a Rebel Alliance and the plan is to get kids to agree to purposefully fail the test if the school curriculum doesn’t return to the way it was. However, the principal is determined to thwart the rebels. This was a great addition to the series and most upper elementary kids would enjoy it.
