The Boy On The Porch by Sharon Creech, 151 pages
John and Marta found a boy asleep on their porch. When he woke up, he didn’t talk but he had a note that said his name was Jacob. John and Marta weren’t sure what to do, except take care of him. So, that’s what they did. Even though he didn’t talk, Jacob became a big part of their lives and John and Marta became afraid of the day that someone would come back for him. This was a very simply told story, great for elementary school because it was fairly short and pretty easy to read but still a nice story. Kids that like true-to-life stories will like it a lot.
