The Reece Malcolm List by Amy Spalding, 308 pages
Devon’s father died three months ago and now she’s on her way from St. Louis to Los Angeles to live with the mother she’s never met. Devon has a list of things that she knows about her mother, Reece Malcolm, that is depressingly short, and doesn’t grow very quickly after she meets her. Reece is hard to get to know, but her boyfriend, Brad, is great, and she has some friends who help make Devon comfortable. Devon’s new school is awesome because it focuses on the performing arts and musical theater is Devon’s love and ambition. Also, Devon makes some amazing friends, including, maybe, a possible boyfriend. Many teen girls would love this amazing book. Amy Spalding has written a fairy tale that actually seems plausible.
