Unbroken by Paula Morris, 291 pages
The sequel to Ruined, Rebecca is back home in New York, her adventure in New Orleans behind her. Or not. Rebecca sees a ghost who asks for her help right before her father announces that they are returning to New Orleans during her spring break. Her friend, Ling, comes along and once again, Rebecca finds herself in the middle of a crisis with a ghost. Unfortunately, this time, Anton, her maybe boyfriend, isn’t as willing to help. Rebecca realizes that the ghosts can’t hurt her, but Toby, the crazy arsonist, seems to be stalking her. At least there is no curse this time, so no one has to die to fix this problem. Or do they? This was nearly as exciting, although not quite as scary as the first book and could be read alone, although some references will be clearer if the books are read in order. Any teens who like ghost stories will enjoy this series.
