One Piece Volumes 1-10

One Piece vol 1-10 by Eiichiro Oda, 2032 pages

During the same “What manga to read next” conversation with Nate, in which he recommended Library Wars, he also recommended One Piece. All he said was that it was really good and it mostly takes place on the water. What he should have said is that it is a great manga series that focuses on the hilarious encounters of a group of pirates.

The captain is Monkey D. Luffy and Nami, the navigator, Roronoa Zolo, Usopp, and Sanji the cook, make up the rest of his crew. Together they sail towards the Grand Line, and quest to find the One Piece, which is an extremely elusive piece of treasure hidden by the pirate king before he was killed. Along their travels they encounter other pirates with strange and powerful abilities. This is counterbalanced with Luffy’s crew also having strange abilities.
This series, despite its ever growing length (currently 70 volumes in the US and more in Japan) One Piece is well worth the read and despite being only 10 volumes into it, I have enjoyed it immensely.

A small side note. After I finish One Piece I will be again looking for another manga title to read. If you have any suggested titles please comment them. While I prefer action manga I am open to other suggestions as well.

  1. Wait... finish? When you finish One Piece? I should point out that it's 73 volumes long and still going in Japan.

So it'll probably be a while till you need your next suggestion.

    1. While I have only blogged the first 10 so far, I am through the first 20 and still reading. Having only started this month and with the rate at which people comment, the suggestions might be needed as soon as May...
