Raising Steam by Terry Prachett
365 Pages
The latest entry of Prachett's discworld series, Raising Steam is about the introduction of railroads to this fantasy world where magic, goblins, dwarves, werewolves and vampires coexist with humans and their inventions. Set along much the same lines as "Going Postal" another Prachett book about the creation of a mail service, Moist Van Lipwig is back and encountering many problems in the creation of DiscWorld's first railroad system. To complicate matters more, the dwarves are on the verge of a civil war as the traditionalists rebel against all the modern changes that have been going on in the world.
Full of sly humor and clever puns, Pratchett still retains the thread of humanity that is common among the books preceding this one. If you have like other Discworld novels Raising Steam won't disappoint.
