The Sandman, vol. 7: Brief Lives by Neil Gaiman, 256 pages
Yay! Finally a Sandman volume that chiefly focuses on Dream/Morpheus! In Brief Lives, Dream accompanies his sister Delerium on a search for their brother, Destruction, who severed ties with the family some 300 years earlier. This was a good, cohesive story, and explained a lot about the realms in which The Endless live and rule. I particularly enjoyed the pairing of dark, stoic Dream paired with his manic kid sister on this quest; humor is not always at the forefront in Sandman, but this pairing allowed it to shine through. That's not to say that this was a particularly hilarious story; rather, the humor that did appear offered a nice balance to the (many) instances of death, destruction, and melancholy. Good stuff.
